Acadia (Nova Scotia)
Although the boundaries of Acadia are not for certain, it is referred to as the peninsula, was a rather large area, and what is now present day Nova Scotia (Hebert, 1999). Nova Scotia is one of the Providences in Canada. It consists of rolling hills, miles of coast lines, flowing rivers, and sharp cliffs (Province of Nova Scotia, 2006).
Nova Scotia's weather varies from rain, freezing rain, snow, and hail. The temperatures range from as low as -3 degrees C in the winter, to as high as 24 degrees C in the summer (Province of Nova Scotia, 2006). This translates to as low as 26.6 degrees F, and as high as 75.2 degrees F, depending on the severity of the weather of the particular year (Wight Hat Ltd., 2003-2012).
Southern Louisiana
Louisiana is bordered and surrounded by land mass all except the southern coastline. The coast lies and rests on the Gulf of Mexico. Southern Louisiana consist of swamps, bayous, canals, and flat land (The Cajun Experience, 2012). The weather and precipitation in southern Louisiana stays pretty much constant, and the average precipitation is 70 inches of rain per year (Bucker). The average temperatures of the winter months are 69 degrees F, while the summer months average about 82 degrees F (Bucker). However, depending on the current year's weather conditions, these temperatures can change drastically (Bucker).
